Chris Collins formed Audubon Machinery Corporation in February 2004 and combined two divisions under the Audubon platform – Oxygen Generating Systems Intl (OGSI) and Schlyer Machine.
OGSI is a world leader focused on designing and manufacturing oxygen generating systems for hospitals, industry, mining, and agriculture. OGSI is a dominant supplier of hospital systems in China, Africa, South America, Vietnam, Iraq, Turkey and other Middle East countries, as well as oxygen systems for fish farms in Russia and cylinder filing plants in Africa.
Schlyer Machine is a leading supplier of cage washing equipment for animal research laboratories in North America and Europe. The equipment is used by almost all major medical school universities in the United States, government laboratories, and pharmaceutical companies as they conduct medical research using mice and rats.
Schlyer also designs and manufactures other ancillary equipment used in research facilities. VWR International is the exclusive distributor for Schlyer Machine in North America and Europe.
In 2005 Audubon Machinery outgrew its facility and built a modern 40,000 square foot factory on a remediated brownfield hazardous waste dump site in North Tonawanda, NY. The facility was built in accordance with U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) – Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) criteria and became the FIRST Green Factory in New York State! LEED is the national benchmark for high performance green buildings.
In recognition of this important feat, Audubon Machinery was just recognized by the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) and was awarded the 2007 Environmental Quality Award for Business & Industry in New York, the highest recognition available to the public by the EPA.
Audubon is a Six Sigma quality company focused on Total Quality Management, Continuous Improvement, and Lean Manufacturing. The operations manager at Audubon is a Six Sigma Black Belt driving continuous improvement with a focus on customer service.
Audubon Machinery is one of the fastest growing companies in the United States and will be recognized on the INC 500 list this year as well as the new Business First list of the fastest growing companies in Western New York.
