Cellular Products, Inc. went bankrupt in the late 1990’s when they lost focus and were not able to compete in the highly competitive HIV blood test kit marketplace. Chris Collins and Jim Hengst, PhD formed ZeptoMetrix Corporation and purchased Cellular Products in July, 1999.
ZeptoMetrix has blossomed into a fully integrated infectious disease company with unique capabilities for virus production, antibody production, western blot test kit production, seroconversion panels, blood testing laboratory proficiency programs, oxidative stress products and services, patented NATtrol nucleic acid test controls, and a unique repository of bulk human plasma inflected with HIV, Hepatitis A and B.
ZeptoMetrix is ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certified with a Select Agent Bioterrorism Permit and two state-of-the-art space-suit environment Level 3 Enhanced Biosafety laboratories. ZeptoMetrix grows hundreds of viruses and bacterial products such as HIV, HTLV, SARS, West Nile, Influenza A and B, Anthrax, and H5N1 Bird Flu.
ZeptoMetrix has numerous contracts with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), College of American Pathologists (CAP), and the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center, where ZeptoMetrix is at the forefront of the nation’s effort to combat the threat of another world-wide influenza pandemic and provides products and services to protect the safety of the nation’s blood supply.
ZeptoMetrix has active on-going collaborations with the Hauptman-Woodward Research Institute, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center Biodefense Laboratory, University at Buffalo and other organizations in the USA and around the world.
ZeptoMetrix also maintains and stores the world’s collection of tuberculosis samples for the World Health Organization in our secure BioStor freezers.
ZeptoMetrix is located in a New York State Empire Zone and is an anchor of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, recognized by many as being the cornerstone of economic development in the City of Buffalo. ZeptoMetrix is experiencing explosive growth.
