Chris has been very active in Boy Scouts most of his life. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 13, was an active member of scouting’s honor society - Order of the Arrow - earned the Catholic religious award – Ad Altare Dei – and attended the 1964 National Jamboree at Valley Forge, Pa.
Chris is a long time member of the Executive Board of the Greater Niagara Frontier Council and currently serves as Vice President of Administration overseeing several areas including the scout shop, technology, risk management and the strategic plan.
For the past two years Chris has served as Chairman of the annual Horizon Dinner which is a major fundraising event for the GNFC.
Chris was chairman of the 2001 and 2005 National Jamboree Committees for GNFC and currently serves as chairman of the 2007 World Jamboree Committee.
Chris has served as an adult scout leader the past 8 years. He was Den Leader and Cubmaster for his son’s Cub Scout pack, Pack 568 in Clarence, when his son Cameron was in 1st – 5th grades. Chris took the boys to summer camp each year to Camp Scouthaven.
For the past 4 years, Chris has been Assistant Scoutmaster at Troop 93 in Clarence and has taken the boys to summer camp each year to Camp Schoellkopf. He is a merit badge counselor for 9 merit badges including 3 eagle merit badges. He goes camping with the scouts several weekends each year.
Chris’ son, Cameron, was the youngest Eagle Scout and first 7th grade Eagle Scout in WNY history. He is also a member of the Order of the Arrow, earned the Ad Altare Dei Catholic Award, attended the 2005 National Jamboree, and is attending the 2007 World Jamboree in England. As an 8th grader, he has already earned 4 Eagle Palms.
Chris was honored as the Horizon Citizen of the Year in 2005 by the Greater Niagara Frontier Council, is a James E. West fellow, and member of the scouting Heritage Society.
